Dr. Ndereba shortlisted for Special Psychology Cross-Training Program for Theologians

Dr. Kevin Muriithi Ndereba Lecturer and Head of Department, Department of Practical Theology has been shortlisted for a 16-month Psychology Cross-Training programme for Theologians at the University of Birmingham. The program equips two cohorts of theologians drawn from international universities with tools to engage with psychological sciences, through three week-long residencies. Dr. Ndereba will be developing a project on youth mental health resilience in Christian congregations as part of his continued work and expertise in practical theology. Part of the project's outputs in 2025 is running a seminar bringing together church leaders, psychologists and counselors working in youth mental health, mentoring postgraduate students to develop research in this area, and developing research in the field of science-engaged theology. 
 
 
The Programme, titled New Perspectives on Social Psychology and Religious Cognition for Theology: Training and Developing Science-Engaged Theologians, is hosted by Principal Investigator Dr. Carissa Sharp, Associate Professor in Psychology of Religion at the Department of Theology and Religion, in partnership with the School of Psychology, and Institute for STEMM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine] in Culture and Society, University of Birmingham, and is funded by the John Templeton Foundation running from 2023 to 2025. This is a win for the School of Theology and for St. Paul's University.
